Reporting to the Office and Finance Manager of Whitefish Lake First Nation #459 Child and Family Services Society.
We are seeking for a self motivated and industrious individual to join our team as a building maintenance worker who will be responsible to ensure the efficient operation of the premises and equipment. The building maintenance worker will be called on to undertake other duties as needed. The individual must be able to work before office opens, evening and some weekends when required. The number of hours per week is 28 and can be scheduled according to seasonal needs. Salary will be based on qualifications and experience.

Duties & Responsibilities

This position will conduct routine preventative maintenance, basic repairs, arranging for professional service providers to complete major repairs and/or construction.

The building maintenance worker will develop and implement a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly maintenance check lists to ensure efficient operation of the building and equipment, including minor vehicle repairs. The building maintenance worker will be required to implement safety measures to meet workplace safety requirements.


• Basic knowledge of heating, plumbing and electrical systems.
• Construction skills such as carpentry, painting, and plumbing.
• Experience using hand and electrical tools.
• Physical strength and dexterity to lift, move and handle equipment
• Ability to read technical manuals and drawings
• Strong verbal and written communication for discussing maintenance issues
• Advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills for fixing maintenance issues
• Administrative skills for ordering supplies, handling records and scheduling maintenance
• Organizational and time management skills

High School with at least 3 years experience in maintenance or related work. Certification related to the duties will be considered an asset.

Current and valid Alberta driver’s license; access to vehicle with $2M auto liability insurance; Conditions for hire: submission of an Intervention Record Check and Canadian Police Information Center (CPIC) clearances and pre-employment drug/alcohol testing; Submission of academic certificates. Personal or access to telephone. Current First Aid certificate (note: training will be provided if certification not currently held).
